Our Mission
“We want children to grow into leaders and contributors, confident in who they are as individuals, with a deep appreciation for what gifts they have to offer”
Our goal is to extend beyond teaching academics but to teach to the whole child. We work to implement the best of various learning styles designed to engage the mind, body, and spirit.
We strive to develop meaningful relationships with our children, empower them, help them define their goals, and set them up for success.
Our Vision
Our Vision is to create a wholesome environment and empowering curriculum that engages children so that they develop into creators and critical thinkers who embrace a lifelong passion for learning.
Our vision is that each child will expand their imaginations and nurture their independent growth. Providing an environment designed to open our student’s minds to explore and create.
Our Philosophies
First and above all else, we will provide your child with a safe school where they can feel comfortable and encouraged. We believe once the child can feel that sense of comfort, peace, and calm then they can start really opening up and exploring their interests and figuring out what they're passionate about.
Our job is to guide them through that process and provide them with the academic elements that we know they're going to need when they move into post-secondary education. At the same time, we will provide them with real-life experiences which will help them feel more confident in their ability to contribute to the community and take care of themselves and each other.
We focus on both academic performance, personal development and emotional intelligence because when they develop emotional regulation and awareness they are also able to manage academic tasks with confidence.
We aim to develop five things:
1) The ability to solve problems - encouraging their ability to think critically through our curriculum
2) The ability to be creative - connecting them to arts (music, art, drama etc)
3) The ability to stand in their personal power - owning their individual super powers
4) Ownership of their personal health - through proper nutrition and exercise
5) Connection to nature - calms nervous system, has a positive impact on our brain, bodies, feelings, thought process and social interactions. Cultivates openness, creativity, connection, generosity and resilience.
These goals are achieved through implementation of our leading edge curriculum which has a focus on experiential learning experiences, an incredible arts program, a revolutionary kids personal development program, our wholesome food and nutrition program (combined with our nutritious, balanced menu) and plenty of outdoor time to explore the 40 acres of parkland we have.
We are inspired by:
Nature time - we know that nature promotes learning by improving learners’ attention, and self-discipline, it lowers stress, increases interest and enjoyment, and improves physical health. Therefore we will be outside learning as much as possible! We have a space that can cater to our naturalist learning on 44 acres of parkland!
STEAM - a collaborative approach to solving problems whereby students learn how to integrate multiple perspectives into one solution.
S - Science for observation
T - Technology for the way it is used
E - Engineering for the way it is created
A - Art for the form it takes
M - Mathematics for its relationship to things
Charlotte Mason - Many topics are introduced to children encouraging deep dives to be explored where the children express a specific topic of interest. This philosophy also believes in nature experiences including nature journaling.
Montessori - Believes in freedom of choice, as do we! Therefore, we have created one period a day for an elective program where students can choose from a variety of topics that will rotate and be defined based on their expressed interests. For example, they may choose to focus on cursive writing, painting, bible study, or food and nutrition. Our electives also include a focus on real-life experiences like meal prepping, cleaning, budgeting, and connection to the environment.
Waldorf - Integrated Curriculum where one topic of study gets woven into multiple subjects. For example, a study on birds for science moves into geography where their flight paths are discussed, and art where their form can be analyzed in more detail. Waldorf focuses on the development of the spiritual self, as well as connection to the environment, teaching to the whole child with an emphasis on using the child’s imagination.
Reggio - Honoring children's curiosity by allowing deep dives into subjects of interest. We have one period a day that is student guided where kids can delve deeper into topics that have sparked their curiosity throughout the day or week.
The Vallieres Method- Improve the mental well-being of children. Creating Purpose-Driven children through self-awareness and social-emotional learning. Encouraging children to own their super powers & being bold so they can make a transformational difference when they go out into the world.
Brave Writer -Empowering the voice of our children by encouraging them to trust in what they have to say first then follow up with writing structure.
